The Story Behind Miles for PDCD

Miles for PDCD began with one runner taking on a personal challenge: training for and completing a first 100K ultramarathon to raise awareness for Pyruvate Dehydrogenase Complex Deficiency (PDCD). But this journey is about more than one race or one runner. It is about using the miles, the challenges, and the stories along the way to help more people understand PDCD and the families whose lives it touches.

As Miles for PDCD grows, the goal is to create a community where anyone can take part. Runners can use their own races to raise awareness, supporters can sponsor miles, families can share their stories, and communities can come together through races, virtual events, and future Miles for PDCD events. Every mile creates another opportunity to start a conversation and make PDCD more visible.

Miles for PDCD exists to bring people together through movement and shared purpose while supporting the broader mission of Hope for PDCD. Whether you are running, sharing your story, supporting a race, or simply learning more about PDCD, you are part of a growing effort to turn miles into awareness and awareness into action.
